new day, new door

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 | Filed under: Blog

When we moved in Decemeber, the rubber weather guard on our studio door was busted. If you can recall, Decemeber was freezing, windy and we had a good amount of rain. Every day, we’d notice that the dust build up was getting more and more ridiculous. We put in a work order 4 months ago and finally got it fixed. But instead of the actual replacement strip, they replaced the entire door! Definitely an event for us here at the studio. Thanks again to Chuck over at Orange County Overhead Door Company for the sweet new face lift!

A few weeks back I shot for the March issue of 944. Well I finally had some time to post the published pics! *Disclaimer if you pick up the actual copy, photo credit is to Jonathan Ho, which I have no idea who that is hah.

But anyways, check it out! Also there is a nice article on clients Mike and Allen of Orisue, written by awesome writer and friend Linda Domingo. Pick up a copy if you haven’t already!!

Light in B&W

Last week after running a quick ad on facebook, we had about 20 people show up to the first annual Come to the Light Side workshop! Accompanied by friend and photographer Erich Chen, we spoke about a few different topics that concerned the veteran wedding photographer and the novice slr user.  It turned out to be a great success! Here are a few images from the night.

Here are some cool photos from recent shoots that have been going under the radar.

Guy Galstian, after evading my camera for 6 years she was finally captured looking glamorous

Teni Panosian, her versatile image has helped us grow our wedding portfolio, and this time she came back for youthful photos for her agency.

This one on the bottom is actually from our inaguration day, its a cool effect that you can try out on still objects and party photos. Using flash and a slow shutter speed, take the photo while moving the camera or zooming in/out to create motion lines.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for some photos from our basic lighting workshop last Wednesday. The turnout was so great that we are now planning several workshops to follow up with. For the next ones we will be covering tips and techniques more in detail while using live shoots.

Enjoy the weekend!
